Artists Brighten Their Community

At Imagination International, community is important to us. That's why we were proud to be a sponsor of the Springfield Art & Chalk Festival, put on by the Eugene/Springfield Art Project

Artists of all ages came out to show off their skills in downtown Springfield, Oregon (yes, the one from the Simpsons). This all day event included the main chalk drawing competition with youth and adult categories, along with a plein air painting contest! Imagination International, Inc. provided graphic design and social media services, as well as volunteers for the event.

The 1st place winner of both the viewers' choice and the juried competition was Brandi York with her Alphonse Mucha piece! Brandi also happens to be one of our Product Specialists who collaborates with us from her home in Seattle (we promise there was no jury tampering, we just hire amazing artists).

"People ask constantly when doing things like this, 'Why would you spend all this time on something that's just going to be washed away?' I've always felt that art is more about the journey than the destination. Street painting gives me an excuse to work on something huge and beautiful for people to enjoy, and people get to watch the process. Then I don't have to worry about where I'm going to store something that big later." — Brandi York

The winner of the youth competition was Julia Jordan with her incredible King Vulture piece!

"Art is the  best way I can express myself. Whenever I’m painting or drawing I just kind of lose myself and it’s easy to become absorbed in what I’m doing." — Gehlen Exum

This event also featured a Plein Air competition, where artists had five hours to go out and paint a scene from the surrounding area.

The winner of the adult contest was Jenny Kroik !
